Confirmation
Traditionally, children at age eleven and older are prepared for confirmation through several months of instruction in Anglican doctrine. Adults who have not already been confirmed, or those seeking to reaffirm their vows, may choose to attend confirmation classes. Throughout this process, careful consideration is given as to how one’s gifts may be used in the Christian life. Once this is completed and the responsibilities of life in the Anglican communion are accepted, the Confirmand is ready to receive the sacrament of confirmation. The Sacrament of Confirmation is performed by the Bishop who presides at this service, and laying his hands on the Confirmand, prays with these words: “Confirm, O Lord, your servant (name) with your heavenly grace that he/she may continue yours for ever, and daily increase in your Holy Spirit more and more until he/she comes to your everlasting kingdom.” Amen.
